What we do
AusHealth offers comprehensive hair testing services for the presence of drugs and alcohol via on-site collection.
Hair testing is a highly accurate and reliable method for detecting drug and alcohol use, as it can detect substances for a longer period of time than traditional oral fluid tests. This makes it an ideal method for identifying employees who may be using drugs or alcohol on a regular basis, but who have been able to evade any occasional or regular drug and alcohol testing procedures. It is also less susceptible to tampering or substitution.
Our hair testing services are designed to be flexible and convenient, so that businesses can easily incorporate them into their existing drug and alcohol testing programs. We offer a range of testing options, including pre-employment testing, random testing, and post-incident testing, to help businesses identify and address drug and alcohol use among their employees.
At AusHealth, we understand the importance of maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, and we are committed to providing our clients with the highest quality testing services possible. We are proud to partner with Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL), ensuring you receive the most accurate results in a quicker time turnaround.
Equipped with a team of highly trained and professional collectors and with in-house Toxicologists with national and international reputations, AusHealth’s accredited hair testing program is designed to help businesses maintain safe and healthy workplaces by identifying employees who may be using drugs or alcohol.
How do we collect a hair sample?
Hair samples are collected for drug and alcohol testing in Australia using a non-invasive and easy-to-perform method. A small sample of hair is collected from the scalp using scissors or clippers. The sample should be at least 1.5 cm in length and should ideally be taken from close to the scalp to provide the most recent drug use history.
Once collected, the hair sample is analysed in an accredited laboratory using various sensitive and selective testing techniques to detect the presence of drugs or alcohol metabolites. These tests can detect drug use over a longer period than other testing methods, such as oral fluid tests, and typically report drug use for up to 3 months prior to specimen collection.
What happens next?
Typically, a hair test result should take around 7-10 business days to return once performed.
Only when the laboratory has issued a final report is the result confirmed positive or negative, and should action be taken under your organisation’s drug and alcohol policy.
